    Underwater

Everybody’s too loud, I can’t listen to myself.
I need somewhere I can go.
    Underwater is where I’ll go.

This is such a perfect song for Sam, who finds peace in the pool. Water is soothing to her overactive mind.

As promised in this interview, I released the first EVERY LAST WORD playlist yesterday. Listen to the music behind the story HERE.

I spent many of my Every Last Word writing days looking at this view and enjoying the sound of the water. Like Sam would.

I didn’t go there looking for you.. I went looking for me.. But now, here you are, and somehow, in finding you, I think I’ve found myself.. 💌

Random writer’s thought: I enjoy the way I see the world through my own eyes, and also through those of my characters. E.g.: I see this pool being drained and think little of it. Sam (Every Last Word) would silently panic, wondering where she’s going to swim laps for the next few days. Bennett (Time Between Us/Time After Time) would be sitting on the edge, gripping his skateboard and patiently waiting for it to empty.

She had a way of seeing the beauty in others, even, and perhaps most especially, when that person couldn’t see it in themselves.
